PTA Party

To celebrate our year working together, the PTA held a party on July 14, 2018 at a PTA member’s house in Kobe! We brought food to share and we also had a barbecue with lots of meat! There were homemade sausages! Yummy!!

The kids had fun playing. Some adults joined them in a soccer game. Then some kids sang some karaoke songs.

Thank you again, Ingrid for hosting the PTA party at your house! We had a great time! (^.^)

Year-End Party

On June 29, 2018 Deutche Schule Kobe International held its year-end party. The PTA were at the school for 8:30 am to start receiving food from students and parents. Then parents, staff and students gathered in the Multipurpose Room where there were nice performances by students of all grades, school club performances, award giving, gift giving and farewells to our departing students, staff and interns.

All departing students got picture frames which had been prepared by the PTA. The PTA handed gifts they had prepared to departing staff (Hiroko Yoshida and Victoria Kelly) and the interns from Germany.

Afterwards, we had the buffet which was managed by the PTA. The food and drinks had all been kindly donated by families of the school. All the food and drinks layed out was an amazing sight!  It was not long though before most things were gone!

Before leaving, there were more farewells and thank yous. Another wonderful school year at Deutsche Schule Kobe International had come to an end. We look forward to another great school year!

Kindergarten 100-Year Anniversary Party

This year was the 100th year that the school had been open! To celebrate this, Early Years of Deutsche Schule Kobe International held the Kindergarten 100-Year Anniversary Party on May 29, 2018. The PTA was there to help. There were food and drinks donated by parents and hotdogs too. Some of the PTA prepared some German sweets for dessert! Everything set out on the tables looked so nice. The food was delicious!

There was a barbecue grill to cook the meat and hotdogs!

We had a great time!

After eating, the teachers had the students do some activities in the school ground. Parents watched on and some joined in!

It was a nice event! We hope to see Deutsche Schule Kobe International’s Kindergarten last for much more time to come! How about a Kindergarten 200-year anniversary party? (^.^)

Open Days

During the 2017-2018 school year, Deutsche Schule Kobe International held 3 Open Days. Upon arrival, all visiting families were given a folder with school information sheets inside. Included was a letter from the PTA stating why we had chosen the school and what we liked about it. We thought it would be good for visitors to read the comments of families that were happy with the school. (^.^)

At all Open Days, visiting families were given a presentation on the school in the Multipurpose Room. The PTA were there.

After the presentation, they were given a tour of the school by the staff. After the school tour, the visitors came back to the Multipurpose Room. Staff and the PTA were there to answer questions they had. For visitors, there was food including homemade sweets which the PTA had prepared! There were also drinks which had been prepared by staff and the PTA.

It was our pleasure helping out at the 3 Open Days at Deutsche Scule Kobe International. We hope to see many of visiting families join Deutsche Schule Kobe International soon! We are very happy here!

Sponsors Run

On April 22, 2018 Deutsche Schule Kobe International held a “sponsors run” to raise money for a new school playground and new toys for students. It was the first time such an event was held at the school. It addition to being a fundraiser, it was also a family event with students’ families invited to watch, cheer on the children who ran and have a good time!

Beforehand, students had found sponsors who were ready to pay them a self-decided donation amount for each lap done around the running course. The more laps completed by the runner, the larger the donation! For example, 100 yen or 200 yen per lap completed. The students ran hard, getting a sheet they carried stamped by staff and parents for each lap done. Some PTA members handed out water bottles to thirsty runners. The students did a great job!

Afterwards, it was time for lunch! There was a buffet with food which had been donated by families of the school and which had been organised by the PTA. The PTA collected money donations in a “donation box”. The collected money was for the new playground and new toys for the students. The PTA also sold hot dogs, beer and coffee. We had a great time!

The sponsors run at Deutsche Schule Kobe International raised about 208,620 yen for the new playground and new toys for the students. Wow! Great job to all the runners and a big thank you to all those who sponsored the runners!

Easter Egg Hunt

Every year, the PTA prepares Easter sweets which are given to all students of the school. Some grades do an Easter egg hunt. Here a photo of some of bags that the PTA prepared for all students:

The Early Year students had an Easter egg hunt on April 6, 2018. Early Years parents were invited to join in on the fun. Due to the chance of rain, they stayed near the school.

After the Easter egg hunt, the children had their snack time on some sheets with staff and parents.

We had a good time. It was nice of the school to invite parents to share this event with their kids. We look forward to more Easter egg hunting next year at Deutsche Schule Kobe International. (^.^)

Christmas Market 2017

The Deutsche Schule Kobe International Christmas Market is an annual event where students hold performances and sell goods they made in school to raise money for charities. This school year the Christmas Market was held on December 15, 2017. The PTA decided to sell sweets (cakes, cookies, etc.) along with some Christmas goods at the event and donate the money made to the school.

The day before the event, some of us from the PTA went to the school to get our “cafe” ready!

The Christmas Market started with performances by students in the Multipurpose Room.

There was a visit by Santa, which the PTA had organized. Also, there was a farewell to Mr. Oki, a longtime school care keeper who was retiring. The PTA handed him some gifts we had prepared for him. Afterwards there was a bazaar and the students sold the things they’d made to raise money for charity. Our PTA “cafe” was a success, making about 15,000 yen which was donated to the school!

We look forward to the next Christmas Market at Deutsche Schule Kobe International. (^.^)
